Testimony and calling highlighted in Ordination of Kevin James Armour

Church at Wazeecha is privileged to be able to ordain Kevin James Armour to the Gospel ministry. It is the first ordination conducted by the church. Kevin will be a church planter 2021 and we are so glad to be part of his ministry start. We will ordain Kevin on July 26, 2020 at 6:00 pm.
Kevin writes: I was not raised in a church-going Christian home and it was not until I was a teenager that I started to regularly attend where I would begin hearing the Gospel preached.  There was one Sunday I distinctly remember sitting in the chair listening to the sermon and thinking to myself, “There are two things I never would want to do: be a pastor or a missionary.” In a sense of divine irony, God has called me to both.
My faith in Christ flourished in college by connecting to a campus ministry, having godly friends disciple me, and participating in ministry opportunities such as teaching Bible study sessions.  For Spring Break in 2013, I went to India for my very first mission trip to help a team train local church planters and pastors.  At the time I was wrestling with my career and life trajectory, planning on graduate school for occupational therapy.  There, in India, God gave the clear calling to ministry, confirmed by team members, and would be affirmed again and again with preaching opportunities throughout the local association of churches. Returning to the United States, I ended an engagement as we recognized God’s calling on our lives was to different places and understanding His purposes are greater.
While preaching at various churches throughout northeastern Missouri, I met Whitney and we discussed at length God’s calling on my life and her own.  We married in July of 2014 and shortly after I was invited to preach at a church for several weeks at a time and begin pastoral candidacy.  They would call me as pastor in November.  A year later as I anticipated graduating from college, God opened the doors to explore church planting through an internship in Wisconsin with Church at Wazeecha.  A few years prior, I had the opportunity to attend a church planting conference and a seed was planted unbeknownst to me.
Pastoring and missionary work coalesce in church planting. The last several years in Wisconsin Rapids has confirmed the resolve to see a new church on the West side of our city and reach people with the same Gospel that transformed my own life.
